Berlin-based company adds markets in Germany and plans international expansion
Berlin, April 16, 2015 – foodora, the online delivery platform for high quality restaurants, launches in Berlin and Frankfurt after having successfully established its service in 2014 in Munich. Soon the German cities Hamburg, Cologne and Duesseldorf will follow. The startup also plans to expand internationally.
foodora partners with local gourmet restaurants, which otherwise don’t offer delivery service, to bring high-quality meals direct to the customer’s doorstep. At the same time, restaurant owners are given access to a much larger customer base. The startup fulfills the majority of orders by bike within a set delivery area, which varies depending on the restaurant. foodora uses a special algorithm to identify the optimal route and driver for each individual order. The focus is always on quality food, friendly drivers and fast delivery.
“We help local restaurant owners reach a broader audience and expand their distribution channels. We strive to bring quality meals to as many people as possible”, says Konstantin Mehl, Founder and CEO of Foodora. “We know the best places in our markets and we share that knowledge with our customers so they can enjoy good food at home or at work.”
foodora initially launched in October 2014 in Munich. The startup gained traction in their home market and began making plans to scale the business.
“We’re taking what we’ve learned in Munich to other cities”, Mehl said. “We want to go wherever people appreciate and demand good food.”
How does foodora work?
On www.foodora.com customers type in their postal code and select a restaurant. They can then choose their favorite dish, which is delivered by Foodora drivers using custom bikes. Delivery times average 30 minutes. Customers can track their order at any time via GPS and pay for their meals online with credit card, PayPal or Sofortueberweisung.
