As foodora, one of the leading delivery services in Europe, reports a surge in romantic purchases leading up to Valentine’s Day. Data shows spikes across traditional romantic gifts and kinkier selections, highlighting evolving preferences in romance and gifting around the day of love.

Valentine’s Day 2025: data shows what couples and singles really want

As February 14th approaches, data shows chocolate remains the sweetest choice, with orders jumping 39% as customers prepare to indulge their Valentines. Close behind, flower deliveries bloomed with a 38% increase, while orders for intimate items heated things up with a 36% rise. With couples and singles alike embracing this celebration, foodora’s data highlights how lovebirds are indulging in both sweet and spicy traditions

Romantic habits across Europe: Czechia emerges as the most passionate, while Norway keeps it more low-key, and Hungary indulges but remains more reserved in romance

Valentine’s Day traditions vary across Europe, data reveals differences in how people celebrate. While some embrace classic romance, others take a more low-key or playful approach. 

Czechia goes all in: with chocolate sales soaring by 164% and sexual wellness products up by 47%, Czechs fully embrace both indulgence and intimacy for Valentine’s Day. 

Norway plays it cool, while chocolate sales increased by 28%, Norwegians seem less romantic with flowers (-8%) and are barely engaging with sexual wellness products (+0.94%). They prefer sweet treats over grand gestures or spice. 

Hungary indulges but keeps it balanced; Hungarians enjoy chocolate (+76%) but show only a moderate increase in sexual wellness products (+17%), making them more traditional in their approach to Valentine’s Day.

Austria is more classic, less kinky. Austrians embrace flowers (+69%), show modest enthusiasm for chocolate (+11%), and actively avoid sexual wellness products (-45%).Sweden is on the fence! The Swedes show moderate enthusiasm for chocolate (+42%) and flowers (+19%), but they seem less keen on sexual wellness this year (-8%), making them similar to Austria in keeping things more classic.
